Dominique, a true Strop, was born (1965) and raised in Ghent. She attended a Catholic school, dubbed "The Blues" due to its uniform, and later began studying English, History, and Geography at the Normaalschool in Ghent. However, she left her studies after two years. At a young age, she ventured to the United States, exploring the east coast by Greyhound bus. She now balances a full-time job with writing thrillers and read-aloud books for children. Her books reflect her experiences, her passion for classic rock music, her unwavering love for animals, and her wanderlust, adding depth to her stories.

Currently, Dominique resides in Mariakerke near Ghent with her husband Dirk, their Maine Coon cat Déjà, and their two dachshunds named Bardot and Sherlock
